At NAIS, environmental protection is a top priority. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices in all our operations, reducing the consumption of natural resources and minimizing our ecological footprint.

We encourage the recycling and reuse of materials, adopt renewable energies and promote energy efficiency.

We are also active in biodiversity conservation and support initiatives that benefit the natural environment and local communities. Our mission is to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.

Certifications

NAIS products, depending on their use in the building, are compatible for obtaining LEED, BREEAM or GREEN points in several sections:
- Recycled material content.
- Easy maintenance, avoiding the use of aggressive chemical products.
- Water consumption. Due to their impermeable surface, if used on terraces, roofs or facades to collect rainwater. Also due to the low maintenance they require, less water is needed for their maintenance.
LEED, BREEAM and GREEN are sustainable building certifications, not product certifications. The use of NAIS products can contribute to the achievement of building certification at a certain level and improved rating compared to alternative materials.
The different standards (LEED, BREEAM and GREEN) grant, through a third party verification, the certification that the building has been designed and constructed using strategies to improve the most significant environmental aspects: energy savings, efficient water consumption, reduction of CO2 emissions, improvements in the quality of the building's interior environment, use of recycled materials, use of products close to the building to minimize the impact of transport...

NAIS designs its products to help the architect to achieve the credits established by the standard and thus facilitate the choice of materials and equipment that will be part of their projects.

NAIS ensures the environmental excellence of its products and services, we have Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in accordance with the International Standard ISO 14025, which defines the requirements that these Environmental Declarations must meet, including verification by AENOR granted in 2020.

These Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) provide a reliable, relevant, transparent, comparable and verifiable environmental profile to highlight an environmentally friendly product, based on life cycle assessment (LCA) information in accordance with international standards and quantified environmental data.

The life cycle analysis (LCA) on which EPDs are based is prepared according to Product Category Rules (PCR) published as a technical standard or by a recognized Program. These CPRs ensure consistent criteria for a family of products with equivalent functions.

The CE marking is not a mark of quality, but a guarantee of compliance with the safety guarantees necessary to market the product. All ceramic tiles circulating in the European Union must comply with the CE marking requirements, regardless of the quality of the tile.

The European Construction Products Regulation requires that construction works be designed and executed in a manner that does not compromise the safety of people, domestic animals and property, or damage the environment.

NAIS ceramic tiles have a declaration of performance (formerly declaration of conformity) with regard to safety requirements, which is available to all customers in the European Union on request. This declaration contains information on key safety parameters related to the performance of the system (fire resistance, mechanical strength, slip resistance, heavy metal emissions, adhesion parameters with different adhesives, durability, etc.). Abbreviated information is included on the packaging, with the CE marking logo.

NAIS, in its efforts to protect the environment, uses recycled material and uncolored cardboard in its packaging, thus saving large amounts of paper.

We are committed to optimizing water management, based on the principles of reuse and optimization of water in different processes. We are also committed to the constant application of energy efficiency criteria in our facilities and activities, as well as the use of soils with a high percentage of recycled material.

During 2021 we have managed to recycle about 72,000 kg. of resources in both paper and plastics, consequently, we have managed to reduce our production of greenhouse gases by about 7,995 kilos. With this we have achieved the Interseroh certificate.

At NAIS we use

Recycled materials

NAIS uses recycled material and uncolored cardboard in its packaging, saving large quantities of paper.

We optimize water management with principles of reuse and continuous improvement in different processes.

We apply constant energy efficiency criteria and use soils with a high percentage of recycled material.

In 2021, we recycled nearly 72,000 kg of paper and plastics, reducing 7,995 kg of greenhouse gases.

Circular economy

We design and manage our processes to extend the life of materials through reuse, recycling and recovery.

At NAIS we work under a circular economy model to reduce waste and make the most of resources. We design and manage our processes to extend the life of materials through reuse, recycling and recovery.

In 2023 we managed to recover 99% of the waste generated in our production process. We have a system for segregating packaging plastics to return them to our external supplier and facilitate their reuse; in addition, the plastic we use in our processes is 100% recyclable. 100% of the cardboard used comes from recycled material, and the cardboard discarded during order preparation is reincorporated into the packaging system.

In addition, we apply a rigorous supplier approval procedure and a Sustainable Purchasing Policy to ensure socially and environmentally responsible practices. We treat industrial wastewater to reincorporate it into the process, and we manage sludge through authorized managers for recycling. We also promote the recycling of baked and raw earth, reducing the extraction of new resources and the volume of waste.
